Clarify the Crud!

Product build-up can be the detriment to any hairstyle. During the summer months we tend to use more product to maintain a style.  Curly, straight no matter what your forte’, if you use products to hold, maintain, combat the frizz…eventually these products hinder instead of help your coif.

When your hair becomes dull, limp and lifeless, even after your regular cleansing routine, here are a couple of tips that will help rid your locks of excess product:

Clarifying Shampoo – Buy a clarifying shampoo from your favorite beauty supply store…typically it’s a shampoo that contains acetic acid. Don’t overuse as it can be drying, at minimum once a week depending on your hair texture. We recommend Phyto a concentrated cream shampoo that includes sage which stimulates the scalp, while chamomile cleanses, conditions and soothes. St. John’s Wort calms and eucalyptus essence cleanses and tones.

Home Grown – You can clarify with ingredients straight from your kitchen cabinet. Apple cider vinegar, baking soda and thyme are all natural ingredients known for clarifying…do a Google search for recipes and instructions.

Visit your Stylist – Whether a first resort or a last resort, your stylist can always help with getting your locks back in red carpet shape. If you are in the New York City area, we recommend Ron Williams at the Phyto Universe who can also conduct a scalp analysis. For those in the Los Angeles area, celebrity stylist, Crystal Blings will clarify your hair and style your tresses to perfection.  (Tell them GoodGirlPR sent you!).
